NOTE: Cyclades strongly recommends that the user read the firmware upgrade section in the latest OnBoard Administrator Manual, available from the Cyclades' FTP site, before installing a new firmware version.
Before you install
------------------
Before installing OnBoard firmware version 1.1.0:
* Read these upgrade notes carefully, particularly the section titled "Important Notes for this Upgrade", below. That section will describe steps you need to take before, during or after the upgrade.
* Ensure that you have safely stored a backup of your existing configuration.
Upgrading from OnBoard Beta (pre-release) Firmware
--------------------------------------------------
If you are upgrading from any pre-release version of the AlterPath OnBoard firmware, it is strongly advised that you install a factory-default configuration at the time of the upgrade.
Important Notes for this Upgrade
--------------------------------
When upgrading from firmware Version 1.0.0 to Version 1.1.0, you should take note of the following:
* If you have created any notifications in OnBoard 1.0.0 which contain only a single word as the notification "body" text, a flaw in the upgrade procedure may prevent those notifications from being converted to the new internal format for use with OnBoard 1.1.0. It is recommended that any such notifications be temporarily edited before the upgrade so they contain multiple words; you may safely reverse the change once version 1.1.0 is installed. If you have already upgraded to 1.1.0, you will need to edit /etc/syslog/syslog-ng.conf to remove the affected notifications, then re-create them through the Web Manager or CLI. (Bug ID #6866)
* The parameter "onboard.server.*.local_ip" has been replaced with "onboard.server.*.subnet", which should contain the name of the private subnet on which the server is configured. You will need to adjust scripts which have either been used to configure, or have used, the local_ip parameter.
Installing OnBoard Version 1.1.0
--------------------------------
Please refer to the section "Downloading a New Software Version" in Appendix B of your AlterPath OnBoard Administrator's Guide for a step-by-step guide to upgrading your unit.

Verifying the Upgraded Configuration Files
------------------------------------------
After upgrading the firmware, your configuration files will be upgraded to reflect improvements introduced by the new firmware. This process automatically occurs when the unit is first rebooted using the new firmware version. You may wish to verify the changes made during the upgrade by reviewing the log which will be available in the text file /etc/configuration/log.
